Relax and let it happen

“What you seek is seeking you.” – Rumi

How would you feel if you knew that everything you desired was on the way? Imagine what you would do if you had a guarantee that what you want and what you need would be provided if you would relax and allow it come to you. While this might seem like an illogical way of looking at life, or sound too good to be true, there is value in pondering the idea. In fact, this is often the difference between someone who feels secure in themselves and someone who is constantly looking for approval and security in people, activities, and possessions.

The type of confidence that comes from knowing that our needs and healthy desires will be met allows us to relax and move through life with greater patience. When we do not feel desperate, we are better able to pause and ponder whether or not something or someone is really in our best interests. On top of that, we become more attractive to the people we encounter when we do not desperately seek something from them.

Learning to slow down and recognize that we are feeling desperate is a big first step. Activities such as meditation, which simply means sitting quietly and noticing how our body feels, what we are thinking about, and how we are breathing, can bring us back to who we really are. As we sit and shift our focus from neediness to calmness, our sense of well-being returns naturally.

Another way to foster a sense of security is to sit down and focus on appreciating the good in our lives. Writing a list of all that we appreciate, including ourselves and the things we do during a day provides instant relief from desperate thinking. Many of us think nothing of allowing our minds to run negative thoughts of the world around us.

I recently witnessed a young boy, while working on a writing project go from struggling to thriving in a matter of minutes. All it took was a teacher highlighting what a great job he was doing and then giving some loving encouragement regarding ways to improve the paragraph he was working on.

The thing to remember is that before the teacher offered him encouragement, the young man believed the negative stories that were running through his mind. He thought that he was lacking in the ability to be a successful writer. Little did he know, the success he was seeking was much closer than he imagined.

If you have a burning desire that seems like it is out of reach, guess again. The truth is, your dream is on the way. Your responsibility is to open your mind up to new, positive ideas regarding what is possible for you. Praise your own efforts and reassure yourself that the good you seek is seeking you. The more you practice, the easier it gets. The reason is simple; life has always been on your side. It just takes some conscious practice to stay open to the miracles.
