The Chinese New Year Spring Festival will be celebrated for the next two weeks, until Feb. 8, the full moon Chinese Lantern Festival. Chinese astrology, based on the moon/lunar cycle, begins at the second new moon after winter solstice (Feb. 2, Groundhog Day) and ends with the Lantern Festival two weeks later at the full moon (Feb. 18).
2011 is the year of the white metal rabbit. We are to look at the inner nature of rabbit and for the year, adopt those virtues – graciousness, sensitivity, gentleness, concentration, diplomacy, culture, manners, a state of being reserved, scholarly, participation in study and intellectual activities. Rabbits are non-competitive and non-aggressive. A rabbit environment contains peace and comfort. This care of the environment nurtures others. We are to emphasize small details, be attentive to color, sound, design, balance, good food and conversation. The lifestyle of a rabbit is conservative and security is important. Rabbits are serious, persevering and very capable, calm and compassionate, charismatic and tactful, cautious and able to be trusted. Everyone will need tenderness. These are tall orders for humans.
