Street Food Cinema is coming to Veterans Memorial Park in Culver City Saturday, July 20, with the screening of “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy,” a Will Ferrell comedy that is rated PG-13.
MTV star Grant Cotter will emcee the outdoor movie, and the reggae band “Dankrupt” will be the featured entertainer. There will be a variety of food trucks for patronage. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with “Dankrupt” performing at 6:30 p.m. and the movie starting at 8:30 p.m.
This, “is more than just an outdoor movie. It’s an experience,” organizers said on their website.
“We want to create a positive community experience where people enjoy being outdoors, amongst like-minded fans, enjoying new music from rising music artists and a plethora of food options,” said Heather Hope-Allison, the principal director and founder of Street Food Cinema. “It brings to life so many amazing elements of Los Angeles.”
The event host, Cotter, is known as the star of MTV’s famous prank show, “Jerks with Cameras,” who made his feature debut in the documentary/comedy “Dying Laughing” will MC.
Astro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken, Cousins Maine Lobster, Original Gourmet Kabob, Poutine Brothers, among other food trucks will be there this Saturday.
Advance ticket prices for Saturday’s performance range from $6 to $19 dollars and will increase at the door. Veterans Park is located at 4117 Overland Ave., Culver City.
The next Street Food Cinema showings in Culver City are on Aug. 3 and Oct. 12, playing “The Breakfast Club” and “Addams Family Values” respectively.
Street Food Cinema was founded in 2012 and has outdoor movie screenings all over Los Angeles County, as well as San Diego.
The most rewarding part of bringing these events together is, “Seeing everyone enjoying themselves….” Said Hope-Allison. ”We’ve had several milestones at our events too like engagements, birthdays, reunions, etc. It’s awesome that people think of us to celebrate big moments.”
