Tis the beginning of the Halloween Season, a time of year I always look forward to when Kentwood Players presents its annual mystery or thriller at the Westchester Playhouse.
This year, it is DANGEROUS OBSESSION, written in 1987 by N.J. Crisp, a prolific British television writer, dramatist, and novelist. The production is directed by Kathy Dershimer and produced by Jenny Boone for Kentwood Players with rights secured from Samuel French, Inc. Featured in the cast in alphabetical order are Dylan Bailey, T. Samantha Barrios, and Michael Willens.
DANGEROUS OBSESSION takes place on a sunny afternoon in the Home Counties. Sally Driscoll is watering her plants in the conservatory of her luxurious home when John Barrett suddenly appears at the door. Sally does not recognize John, but it seems that the Driscolls and the Barretts have met before. But Sally wonders whereas she pours their next drinks.
Then, soon after Sally’s husband Mark arrives, it becomes apparent that someone has a very dangerous obsession, hoping to pin the blame for his wife’s accident on someone else and shatter a marriage in the process. Audiences will twist and turn in their seats with the ever-surprising plot in this psychological thriller.
Performances take place at the Westchester Playhouse, 8301 Hindry Ave. in Westchester from Friday, Sept. 7 through Saturday, Oct. 13 on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Reserved seat tickets are $22 with a $2 discount for seniors and students. To purchase tickets, call (310) 645-5156 during box office hours, Wednesday through Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m.
