Application nominations to Baldwin Hills Conservancy BOD being accepted

The City Clerk’s Office announces the application period for the City Council’s three nominees for the Governor’s appointment of one voting member to the Baldwin Hills Conservancy (BHC) Board of Directors. The Board consists of 13 voting members and seven nonvoting members. This BHC appointment will serve a two-year term, which will begin as early as September 2014.

The BHC’s mission is to “acquire open space and manage public lands within the Baldwin Hills area and to provide recreation, restoration and protection of wildlife habitat within the territory for the public’s enjoyment and educational experience.” The BHC has a Board of Directors to guide BHC staff and fulfill this mission.

Applications will be accepted by the City Clerk’s Office until 5 p.m. on Friday, August 1. Late applications may not be accepted.

The City Council discussion regarding these nominations is tentatively scheduled for Monday, August 11 meeting at 7 p.m. in the Mike Balkman Council Chambers. Additional information and applications are available in person during business hours from the City Clerk’s Office, located on the first floor of City Hall, 9770 Culver Blvd., may be requested by phoning (310) 253-5851; or can be obtained on the City’s website at: www.culvercity.org. City hall is open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and will be closed on July 25.

The nominees will be required to complete Governor Brown’s online application.
