Dust off your old cleats and get ready for the annual Alumni football game scheduled to take place Tuesday, July 8 at the Culver City High School football field. The game will start at 4:30 p.m. with the players checking in with game coordinator Greg Goodyear at 4 p.m.

“We would like to see as many former players as possible come out,” said Goodyear.  “This will be the first alumni game on the new football field. The field is fast and ready to go. This year we need more alumni to participate in the game. The game features the alumni against the current varsity players.”

The current players will be ready for the seven-on-seven passing alumni game because they are currently playing in some of the most competitive passing league tournaments in Southern California.  Last weekend they won four games and lost three in the 30 team Bonita High School passing tournament.

The Centaurs beat Arroyo, North View, Peninsula and Los Osos and they loss to South Hills, Valencia and Etiwanda.

“We did a very good job considering we were playing against some of the top teams in the area,” assistant coach Goodyear said. “Winning four games in a tournament like that says a lot about our team. We are young but we have a lot of talent.”

The Centaur quarterbacks Quantorrious Truitt and Xavier Ryan along with receivers Jason Grossman, Evan Tillman, Reynard Saxon and Donovan Davis are doing a great job for Culver City according to Goodyear. On defense Luis Schulze, Jarrett Anderson, Kyle Lyons and Mason Mulvihill have stepped up with some timely interceptions.

The Centaurs next passing league games will be at Santa Fe High School on July 12 and July 17 at Mira Costa High School. Both games will start at 5 p.m.
