For lovers of summer evenings and great music, the Culver City Music Summer Festival will be upon us in one week. Curator Gary Mandell of Boulevard Music, the brains behind the annual music extravaganza, has lined up six shows beginning July 11 with Ryan Shupe and the Rubberband (Americana/bluegrass) at the palm-lined Courtyard of Culver City City Hall.

Six concerts will continue on Thursdays from July 11 to Aug. 15. Other musical themes are Argentinian Rock with vocals and guitar from Los Pinguos, plus Worldbeat/Funk/Rock/Mambo from the Bonedaddys on July 18; Afro/Cuban rhythms from Ricardo Lemvo and Makina Loca on July 25; Jazz/Blues/Motown with a tribute to Aretha Franklin from the George Kahn Jazz & Blues Revue, plus the sounds of Surf Music/the Beach Boys with a tribute to Dick Dale from Big Wave on Aug. 1; an evening of the Music of John Denver with singalongs from Jim Curry on Aug. 8; and Classic Rock standards (the best covers done of the band Venice) and originals from The Pine Mountain Logs on Aug. 15.

Performances begin at 7 p.m. All shows are free. Parking is free for one hour (2 hours with festival validation) in designated structures in downtown Culver City, and dozens of dining options are available within walking distance.

Fans can become an entry-level sponsor by purchasing one of the 100 premium reserved seats at $10 each per show, now available at Boulevard Music.

Tickets can be purchased at Boulevard Music in person or over the phone.
