Multiple charges sought in street race crash

Culver City police will be asking the district attorney’s office to seek driving while intoxicated and illegal street racing charges against two men who involved in an early morning crash that damaged the Seventh Day Adventist Church on Washington Boulevard on Nov. 18.

Angel Carasco, 21, and Francisco “Paco” Solano, 28, were allegedly racing  and driving under the influence as they sped down Culver City streets in the early morning hours before smashing into the church where the pastor’s office and a restroom where damaged. The amount of property damage is unknown at the time.

“We will be forwarding our case to the district attorney once we complete our investigation, which we hope will be very soon,” said Lt Sam Agaiby.  “We’re still waiting for the DUI results to come back.”

Solano and Carasco were arrested at the scene and have been released on bail.Agaiby recalled one other incident of racing in Culver City but said these races were rare.

“[Illegal street racing] is a serious issue, but not an ongoing issue [in Culver City],” he said.
