Husband and wife team Jim and Anne Curry bring their tribute to the great John Denver to Boulevard Music this week, so Jim told the News about what they have in store for Culver City…

What have you been up to since your last visit to Culver City?

It has been a little over a year since performing in Culver City. I have been touring coast to coast sharing the Music of John Denver to over 20,000 people in that time. We recorded a new album in Nashville called The Best Loved. It is a collection of the most requested songs from our touring. It is finished but a release date is pending the completion of the album packaging. We are releasing it in multiple forms; CD, USB, and possibly download. I have also formed a new business for creative idea development called The Curry Family Project. It is my wife Anne, and our two sons Brian and Matthew. They each have their own talents that when combined bring some fun ideas to the table. We have launched the first project called SS Tribute Cruises. It is bringing singer-songwriter tribute acts on to one special group cruise for a seven-day cruise. Our first one is already taking reservations for a Western Caribbean cruise on April 12th, 2026, out of New Orleans. It will feature the music of four tributes: John Denver, James Taylor, Carole King, and Neil Diamond.

Describe your sound…

I would say my music performance style is relaxed, folk/pop. I want people to hear the words and feel the message in the music. John Denver, as a singer-songwriter, often talked about the magic of music and how it connects to people in their own life.

Is there any new recorded music available?

The new album The Best Loved should be released in about two months.

How was your last Boulevard show? Any memories?

Every show at Boulevard Music is a time I can reconnect with the people that return to see us again. The last time we were there in June of 2024, we had our very talented keyboard player, Chris Wills. Chris brings so much of the orchestra into the show. Our song selection opens way up when we have him onboard.

What can we expect from the set this time?

This time I am having one of the best guitar players I know join us. Gordon Lustig brings the authentic sound of John’s early music. John Denver’s early band was just three people: A bass, a guitar, and John singing and playing his guitar. We won’t have the bass at this show but with Anne’s talent on Mandolin, guitar, and harmony along with Gordon’s lead guitar and harmony, it will be a beautiful sound.

What else do you have coming up?

The Curry Family Project is looking at future SS Tribute Cruises as well as promotion and producing other artists. The artists we feature on the SS Tribute Cruise will also be presented at theatres around the country. We have the symphony performances also. My next symphony performance is with Orchestra Kentucky in Bowling Green Kentucky on November 1st. Our Christmas tour is shaping up to be a long run mostly out on the east coast.

Jim Curry Presents the Music of John Denver at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16 at Boulevard Music. More info on the show at boulevardmusic.com.
