A motorcyclist was killed in an early morning collision on Nov. 22, Culver City police said in a news post.

Culver City police responded to a 1:15 a.m. dispatch on Saturday to the area of Washington Boulevard and Kensington Avenue, regarding “an unconscious person lying on the ground following a motorcycle crash,” CCPD Chief Jason Sims said in the press release. First responders on the scene provided life-saving measures. Culver City Fire Department personnel transported the motorcycle riders to a local hospital, where the cyclist was pronounced deceased.

Culver City Police investigators and forensic specialists responded to the location to process the scene and investigate. Parking Enforcement Officers assisted with traffic control, and a Nixle alert was issued advising the community of the temporary closure of eastbound Washington Boulevard between Inglewood Boulevard and McLaughlin Avenue.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the motorcyclist had been traveling eastbound on Washington Boulevard at a high rate of speed and was unable to maintain control, resulting in an ejection from the motorcycle and a subsequent collision. The investigation remains ongoing,” police said.

The roadway was reopened to traffic at approximately 6:45 a.m., and an alert was issued to notify the community.
