Culver Cops Nab Stabbing Suspect

The Culver City Police Department this week released a statement to report that on Sunday, May 5 at approximately 2:45 p.m., at the 6100 block of Slauson Avenue, they responded to multiple calls following an altercation in a parking lot.

When the police arrived at the scene, they found a female victim who had been “stabbed multiple times and was bleeding heavily.” She was transported to hospital and, at the time of writing, is in stable condition.

“Officers immediately worked to locate the suspect involved,” reads the report. “A perimeter was set up, and police searched the area where the suspect was last seen fleeing on foot. A short time later, officers found the suspect hiding in bushes at Cougar Park near Hannum Avenue and Slauson Avenue. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.”

The CCPD went on to say that, following a preliminary investigation, it appears that the suspect approached the victim in the parking lot.

“The suspect stabbed the victim multiple times before fleeing the area on foot,” they said. “The knife believed to be used in the attack was recovered at the scene. The suspect, a 38-year-old Male Hispanic with an unknown city of residence, will be booked at the Culver City Police Department jail for attempted murder.”

The police are asking that anyone with any information regarding this incident “or who may have been in the area with a vehicle that could have captured video of the attack” to immediately contact the CCPD Public Information Officer, Jennifer Atenza, at (310) 253-6120 or jennifer.atenza@culvercity.org or the Watch Commander at (310) 253-6202.
