Culver City partners with Lighthouse on hotline service

The city of Culver City has partnered with Lighthouse Services, Inc. on a new anonymous hotline that will encourage city employees, contractors and members of the public to report instances of fraud, waste and abuse that impact city resources.

A statement from the city reads, “Do not use this program to report issues that should not involve the City of Culver City. (i.e. (a) Dispute between private parties, (b) Housing issues or (c) Problem with neighbors or family.)”

The sort of incidents that they are looking to cut out are listed as: Theft of City resources (e.g., cash, equipment, supplies or materials); Record falsification; Payroll fraud or time abuse; Kickbacks or bribes; Intentional misuse of City equipment or property; Contractor fraud; Gross mismanagement of resources, including careless expenditures; Gross disregard of policy and/or procedural controls.

Lighthouse Services is described as “an independent provider that assists the City of Culver City to identify improper activity. We are committed to protecting the identity of all persons who use our secure reporting system.”
