Reports of gunshots on campus prompted police to lockdown Santa Monica College.

A woman called campus police about 11 a.m. Tuesday, after hearing shots. More calls followed. The Santa Monica Police Department, the Los Angeles Police Department Air Support, the Santa Monica Fire Department and emergency rescue teams assisted campus police in a search for a gunman, but it was determined that there was nobody armed on the campus. Santa Monica College Police Chief Al Vasquez called off the lockdown shortly after noon.

There were no classes in session, but there were employees and students on campus.

An investigation is being conducted.
