Coffee hour brewing for Goldberg

A coffee hour is planned for Culver City Unified School District School Board candidate Nancy Goldberg at the home of Diana Martin in the Carlson Park area. The meeting will take place on Sunday, Oct. 9 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at 4219 Keystone Ave., Culver City. Residents were invited to attend for an afternoon of informal discussion and refreshments.

Diana Martin, mother of Nicole Martin, a former student of Goldberg’s, explained that they are supporting her candidacy because she was “so dedicated to her students and their well-being. The only item on her agenda is to do what is best for the students,” Diana Martin said. “I know she will be an intelligent, knowledgeable board member.”

Nicole added, “Mrs. Goldberg cared about every student. We always felt that we mattered and had her support in all of our activities.”

The Martins encouraged their neighbors to attend the meeting to get to know Goldberg and share any questions or concerns they may have about the schools.

Goldberg retired as a teacher from Culver City High School and recently received the endorsement of The Association of Classified Employees-Culver City following an interview of the candidates in which their breadth of knowledge and positions on the issues were rated based on their spontaneous responses to questions that had not received in advance.

Association President Debbie Hamme said that Goldberg “proved to us that her 41 years of experience as a teacher at Culver City High School has resulted in an intelligent and balanced perspective of the challenges we face in our district, as well as her intense focus on the needs of our students.” She added that Goldberg’s concern for all stakeholder groups was clearly evident during her interview.

“We wholeheartedly support her candidacy and have given her our sole endorsement in this year’s school board election,” Hamme said.
