Coaches, athletes of the year continue summer workouts

Not resting on their laurels as they lead practices, conduct clinics and shuttle players to tournaments this summer for their young charges, Joe Manzo (volleyball), Scott Mair (soccer) and Rick Prieto (baseball) recently took home Coach of the Year honors at the annual Centaur banquet.

Athletes of the Year, Ryan Mulvihill (football, baseball) and Jennifer Mair (soccer), continue their summer workouts to advance to university competition.

Tim Ayers, Jennifer Kochevar and Rick Hudson were named Assistant Coaches of the Year.

Dylan Bourne and Liliana Valverde were honored as Most Inspirational Athletes. Team to Win Scholar-Athlete awards went to Rufus Humphrey and Mair.

The Hart and McNiven awards for inspirational play went to Leo Zambrano (football), Shanice Penn (volleyball), Nikita Chizov and Annie Hwang (water polo), Humphrey (basketball), Ashley Hale (cheerleading), Julien Prestridge (soccer), Tim Kwak and Cynthia Chaggan (tennis), Alex Aguliera and Morris Ellis (volleyball), Michael Dozal (swimming), Mair (soccer), Carter Vanderbilt (golf), Anthony Lopez (lacrosse), Lorely Turcios (softball), Benny Baldovino (cross country), Cammi Conrad lacrosse), Charles Back (track), Garrett Gemgnani (baseball) and Katherine Alvarenga (student trainer).

Leading academic athletes were Traci Yamashita, Morgan Jackson, Jose Escoto, Babandeep Singh, Samuel Dixon, Ayana Ussery, Cynthia Chaggan, Nicole Duval, Hwang, Valverde, Edgar Castillo, Humphrey, Andy Aguila, Jacob Metzinger, Heather Goller, Catherine Lin, Adam Friedman, Vanderbilt, Andrew Winslow, Nikhil Jain and Hwang.

The Exchange Club Student-Athlete was Samuel Dixon.

Blue C Leadership Awards were presented to Robert Myers, Sienna Gonzalez and Amanda Martinez. Dan Fagas was selected as Staff Member Of The Year.
