Centaurs stay unbeaten in Ocean League

Inglewood cured the Culver City Centaur’s batting woes by absorbing losses of 26-0 and 13-1 in Ocean League play last week to keep Culver City High School’s league record unblemished at 6-0 (11-10-1 overall).

The Centaurs play Thursday against Morningside at Culver High in a league contest.

Tyler Mark and Lukas O’Connor continued to throw strikes behind good defense last week to earn the league victories.

Mark gave up only one hit on his way to striking out nine batters. Skylar Blocker mopped up with three strikeouts for Culver City. The Centaurs scored 12 runs in the first inning and piled on nine more in the second frame of the 26-0 win on Tuesday of last week.

Blocker led the Centaur offense by going 3-for-5 with six RBI. Chris Caines went 2-for-4. Rodney Bradley, George Aceves, Ryan Mulvihill, O’Connor, Mark, Sean Cogman and Darian Sylvester singled.

Aceves and Mark each recorded three hits in the 13-1 win for O’Connor last Thursday against Inglewood.

In the final round of the Redondo Tournament, last Saturday, Palos Verdes defeated the Centaurs, 13-6. Blocker continued his hot hitting, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.
