Centaurs continue through dog days of spring

Springtime brings April showers and a lot of meets, games and matches for the boys’ and girls’ teams at Culver City High School. Today the unbeaten boys’ and girls’ track and field teams will head into battle against El Segundo and Hawthorne in a tri-meet at the Jerry Chabola Stadium at 2:45 p.m.

In addition, the 9-7 boys’ volleyball team will face El Segundo in 3:15 during a match inside the Del Goodyear gym.

The next track and field meet will be this Saturday when the Centaurs will send a group of elite athletes to the prestigious Arcadia Invitational at Arcadia High School.

“This meet will give our student athletes an opportunity to compete against some of the best runners and jumpers in the nation,” said coach Jahmal Wright.

The next boys’ volleyball matches will take place Friday at 3:15 p.m. against Gardena Serra and Monday against St. Monica at 5:15 p.m. Both matches will be played at Culver City.

The 6-10 baseball team will travel to Lawndale on Tuesday April 14 and return home to face Lawndale on Thursday April 16. Both games will start at 3:15 p.m. On Saturday, April 18 the baseball team will travel to the San Fernando Valley to play Granada Hills at 11 a.m. in the Chatsworth Tournament.

The 7-5 girls’ lacrosse team will host Marlborough at 4 p.m. on Wednesday April 15 at 4 p.m. and travel to Santa Monica on Friday April 17 to face the Vikings at 4:30 p.m.

The 4-8 boys’ lacrosse team will be on the road for their next two games when they play Viewpoint High School in Calabasas at 4 p.m. this Friday, and El Segundo next Wednesday at 4:45 p.m.
