Dropping three games last week, the Culver City High School baseball team returns to Ocean League action today as the undefeated-in-league Centaurs meet visiting Inglewood.

“We’re playing good baseball, but coming up short in the offense category,” Centaur head coach Rick Prieto said, rationalizing the doubleheader loss on Wednesday of last week to Whittier Christian, 3-2 and 4-1, and the fourth-round setback Saturday in the Redondo Tournament, 4-1, to South Torrance.

“The team continues to play good defense, play aggressive baseball and get quality innings from the pitching staff,” Prieto said.

The Centaurs got another good pitching performance from Tyler Mark, who allowed two runs (one earned) in five innings of work in the 3-2 defeat to Whittier Christian.

George Aceves went 2 for 2, and Rodney Bradley and Tyler Adkison batted 1 for 4 for Culver City (9-9-1 overall and 4-0 in league).

Rodney Bradley’s leadoff home run over the right field fence was the sole offensive highlight in the 4-1 loss in the second game of the double bill.

Whittier scored two runs in the second inning off starter and loser, Lukas O’Connor, who worked four innings, allowing three runs on six hits. Aceves, Adkison and Darian Sylvester each went 1 for 3.

Mario Fragoso gave up a three-run homer in the first inning of the 4-1 loss to South Torrance in the Redondo Tournament. Brian Ibarra relieved Fragoso, allowing only one hit in three innings.

Ryan Mulvihill went 2 for 3. Bradley had a run-scoring triple to left center, and Mark led off the sixth inning with a double to right center.
