Culver City High School winter sports teams are doing their best to try to end the regular season with a winning record and make the CIF playoffs. Boys and girls basketball, boys and girls soccer and girls water polo moving are into the heart of their league schedules and how they perform in their respective leagues goes a long way in determining if they make the playoffs.

The basketball teams have the toughest schedule of al of the teams because they do not have home games because the Del Goodyear gym was floored during the bad rainstorm that occurred last November. It’s hard enough to try to battle a good opponent but without a solid home court advantage the task of winning games becomes very difficult.

Despite their current circumstances the boys and girls’ basketball teams are doing well. The boys are 7-6 and the girls are 7-8. Both teams are led by good players and excellent coaching staff.  Julian Anderson is head coach of the girls’ team and Ray Singleton is the head coach of the boy’s team. Both teams have a home game against Beverly Hills on Friday, Jan. 9. Because of the Gym situation contact the school to find out the location and time of the games.

The girls’ water polo team is currently 5-5 and they have a match against El Segundo on Monday, Jan. 12, at 3:30 p.m. The match will take place at Vets pool on Overland. They also will battle North Torrance at Vets pool on Tuesday, Jan. 13, at 3:30 p.m.

The girls’ soccer team is currently 0-4-1 and they play at Lawndale on Wednesday, Jan. 14, at 3:30 p.m.  The boys’ soccer team is currently 4-2-1 and their next match is Friday, Jan. 9, at Culver City at 5 p.m.
