CCHS softball team turned their 2022 season around

Taylor Peacock was the Most Outstanding Player in the Bay League.

After losing five of their first six games of the season the Culver City girls softball team turned their season around during Bay League play. Towards the end of the Bay League schedule the Lady Centaurs went on a seven-game winning streak to capture second place in league play and finish league play with an 8-2 record. Their overall season record was 16-12 For their efforts several girls made post season All-Star teams this month. Topping the list was All-CIF Division 3 selection Evann McDowell. She was also selected to the All-Bay League first team. She batted .506 with 39 hits, she scored 26 runs, had 21 runs batted in. The senior also had 13 doubles and her fielding average was .951. The Most Outstanding Player in the Bay League was sophomore sensation Taylor Peacock. As a hitter she batted .511, drove in 29 runs, scored 19 runs, hit 17 doubles and hit eight home runs. As the teams’ number one pitcher she had a 2.45 earn run average, she pitched 106 innings, had 95 strikeouts and held opponents to a .236 batting average. On the field the sure handed Peacock had a .950 fielding percentage. Another first team all-league player was senior Kiera Lamb. The senior batted .442, had 34 hits, drove in 27 runs, had 11 doubles and she had an excellent fielding percentage of .960. Making the All Bay League second team was senior Merci Hart and junior Cheyenne Navarro. Hart batted .424 with 25 hits. She drove in 15 runs and scored 11 runs. During her two-year varsity career, she batted .425, had 57 hits, scored 40 runs, had 34 runs batted in. She also had 17 doubles and six home runs. In 2022 Navarro batted .445, scored 37 runs, drove in 36 runs, had 33 hits, 17 walks, 10 doubles, eight home runs and three triples.

Evann McDowell was named to the All-CIF and All-League first teams in 2022.
Merci Hart made All-Bay League second team in 2022.
