CCHS baseball team making presence felt at 8-1

The season still has a long way to go but the Culver City varsity baseball team is looking like a team that has moved into the Under the guidance of second-year head coach, Devaughn Wallace the Centaurs are currently 8-1 and appear to be ready to be competitive in the tough Bay league. Every game in the Bay league will be a dog fight. 

“We will take it one game at a time,” said Wallace after practice last week.

On Tuesday they travel a short distance to Hamilton for a 3:30 p.m. contest. On Wednesday the Centaurs face St. Bernard at home at 3:30 p.m. and on Saturday, March 16, they go back on the road to battle Windward at 2:30 p.m. and on Wednesday, March 20, they open league play at Redondo Union at 3:30 p.m.

The boys’ lacrosse team is 1-2 and they play Redondo Union at home on Tuesday, March 12, at 5 p.m. On March 14, they travel to the valley to face Birmingham and on Wednesday, March 20, they are at home against El Segundo at 5 p.m.

The girls’ lacrosse team travels to Palos Verdes on March 13, for a 3:30 p.m. match and they return home to face Palisades on March 14, at 3:30 p.m.  The Lady Centaurs travel to Mira Costa on March 20, at 5 p.m.  

The boys’ tennis team plays on Tuesday, March 12, against Peninsula at home at 3 p.m.  and on Wednesday, March 13, they travel to Torrance for a 3 p.m. match. On Thursday, March 14, they host Mira Costa at 3 p.m. and Tuesday, March 19, they hit the road for a match against Palos Verdes at 2:30 p.m.

The softball team is currently 5-3 and they have a home game against Garden Grove on Saturday at 4 p.m. and they play a Bay league game on March 20, against Redondo Union on the road at 3:30 p.m.

The boys’ volleyball team is currently 2-6 and they play at Mira Costa on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. On Friday at 3:30 p.m. they host Palos Verdes. On Monday, March 18, they host Venice at 3:30 p.m. and March 20 they play Redondo Union at home at 3:30 p.m.  

The girls and boys track and field teams will have a home meet against El Segundo, Wednesday, March 13, and on Wednesday, March 20, they will have another home meet against Beverly Hills at 3:30 p.m.
