Seniors score for soccer all-stars

Soccer season for some young athletes never seems to end, which has been the case the past few years for two Centaur seniors who took part in the annual South Bay All-Star game.

Jennifer Mair and Lili Valverde represented Culver City in fine fashion, according to Culver City High School varsity girls head coach Scott Mair.

Jennifer Mair came off the bench 15 minutes into a stagnant game and promptly scored three minutes later. Valverde entered the game with five minutes left in the first half and made an impact with her offensive drives and passing.

With the score tied 2-2, Valverde beat the defender and kicked in the game-winning goal in the second half.

“As a coach, I am so proud of these two seniors. They led their team all year and their leadership showed at this game involving the best players in the area,” Scott Mair said.

Jennifer Mair, the coach’s daughter, and Valverde graduate in two months, after having played four years on the varsity team, three years all-league, and team captains for two years.
