Construction to disrupt Blue Line service Gina Hall | Tue, Jul 05 2011 11:52 PM

This weekend, trains will not serve stations near Staples Center and downtown due to heavy construction at the northern end of the Blue Line. The construction is concentrated at Flower and Washington streets and will continue through Sunday night.

Trains on the light rail line from Long Beach will reverse at the Washington Station, near Central Avenue and Washington Street. A bus will connect the Washington, Grand, Pico and Metro Center stations.

The new Expo Line tracks will join the Blue Line this fall and will share the Blue Line tracks along Flower Street from Seventh Street south to Washington, then continue south to USC and west to Culver City. Funding is reserved to expand the Expo Line to Santa Monica and to build a new line south along Crenshaw Boulevard, running near Los Angeles International Airport.
