Culver City High School graduate Kristi Littleton was recently chosen as a 2011 Milken Scholar. The Milken Family Foundation annually selects 11 high school students to receive a $10,000 scholarship. The award provides ongoing support and resources that extend beyond college into professional life. The program helps scholars transition from high school to college and to career. This year’s recipients include valedictorians, debate champions, five National Merit finalists and a U.S. Presidential Scholar.

            Littleton, a multi-faceted musician, was elected president of the Academy of Visual and Performing Arts’ music company. She is the flute/piccolo first chair in the concert band, co-drum major of the marching band and a chamber singer. Littleton also excels in academics. She is an Advanced Placement Scholar with distinction and a National Merit Scholarship finalist. Throughout high school, Littleton has participated in the Math Club, MESA (Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement), the UCLA Science Mathematics Achievement and Research Training for Students, and Jet Propulsion Laboratory’s Invention Challenge. She plans to major in bioengineering at the University of Pennsylvania in the fall.
