Former Culver City Mayor and current City Councilmember Jim Clarke have added his name to the growing list of endorsements of Marcus Tiggs, candidate for the Culver City Council in the April 10 election. This comes in addition to current Mayor Jeff Cooper and City Councilmember Goran Eriksson’s endorsements.
“At the end of each candidate forum, Marcus has opined that all of the candidates probably agree on 80% of the issues while disagreeing on 20%. His focus, if elected, is on working with his Council colleagues on the 80% in which they are in agreement in order to get something done and putting the 20% aside for later,” Clarke said. “It is Marcus’ attitude toward first finding consensus in the short term and then tackling the tough and divisive issues once there is trust and respect that is most appealing to me and that will ensure his success as a Council member.”
The Fox Hills Alliance and Culver City Chamber of Commerce have also recently added their support for Tiggs, a 25-year resident of Culver City, a long-time member and former chair of the annual Fiesta La Ballona, and the Culver City Planning Commission, a member of the Public Safety Citizen Advisory Committee, CCUSD Citizen Bond Oversight Committee and Community Budget Advisory Committee and, most recently, serving as the Time Capsule Chair of the Centennial Celebration Committee, demonstrating his ability to work as a team member with many others, regardless of differing political or social views
Tiggs, married to wife Monica, is a graduate of Pepperdine University and the UWLA School of Law, specializes in bankruptcy cases representing debtors, creditors, and trustees, including litigation and appeals before District Court and the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. He is a retired Army Lieutenant Colonel and a combat veteran and is extremely dedicated to his community.
