Bluesy rockabilly band the Royal Dynamics perform at the Cinema Bar on Thursday, so Kathleen Ingle told the News about what they have in store for Culver City…
When did you start playing and performing?
We’ve been playing gigs all over Los Angeles and writing original songs too.
Describe your sound…
Our sound is blues/old school rock/rockabilly. We love doing covers of great old songs and putting a twist on them. They’re so fun and well written and we love bringing them out and letting people enjoy them.In some cases we take an older great song and meld it with a newer version of that song and you can hear the two styles converge. It’s kind of cool.
What recorded music do you have available?
We are heading into the studio soon to record….so we’ll keep you posted.
What can the audience expect from the set this time?
You can expect to have a good time. Hearing some fun, cool songs. Some familiar pieces and some of our originals. It’s an energetic, entertaining set, I believe. We’ve all been through such a crazy couple of years that it’s a joy to get to play out, live and connect with the audience and remember what it feels like to have fun with live music.
What else do you have coming up?
We just played at the Maui Sugar Mill in Tarzana and we have some more stops on our “summer tour” Always on the look out for great venues with people who want to hear some good music and forget about everything else for a little while.
