Dusty country rockers and “good ol’ boys” Stetsonwolf perform at the Cinema Bar this week, as they celebrate the release of a single which was released in the summer. They told the News about what they have in store for Culver City…
When did you start playing and performing?
Stetsonwolf started cooking in late 2018. Wemet here through the local music scene – just some good ol’ boys who wound up in Los Angeles for one reason or another and all share the common love of playing country music.
Describe your sound/style?
57 percent blacktop burning 1970s country, 43 percent high voltage ‘70s rock and roll.
What are your career highlights so far?
Playing on the back of a pickup truck at a dog park in Santa Monica with Johnny Travis Jr.
What recorded music is available — particularly the most recent?
Stetsonwolf just recorded a two song single this summer, mixed and mastered and currently working on a music video for one of the tunes before releasing the project. We have some live clips scattered around here and there but no official studio recordings released yet.
Have you performed at the Cinema Bar before?
We have played at Cinema bar probably 10 times or so over the past 5 / 6 years – it’s one of my favorite places to play in the world – its small, its old, it’s made of wood, it has a neon sign out front and a tropical fish tank on the back patio – it just feels like home.
What can the audience expect from the set this time?
We are playing 2 sets with a few special guests joining us throughout the process, we usually do a mix maybe 75 percent original tunes and 25 percent cover tunes. We will probably play a few new ones we’ve never done on stage before – maybe a few extended / improvised jam versions of our usual bangers since we have more time than usual to work with.
What else do you have coming up?
Planning to release our new 2 song single and music video on Christmas day 2024. More gigs this fall and winter season in Southern California keep an eye on our Instagram and website for updates!
