Culver City will be prominently featured in the latest issue of Dwell magazine.

Erica Islas, principal designer and president of Culver City-based EMI Interior Design, Inc., designed a child’s room that was published in Dwell’s July/August issue. Islas is a Culver City resident and EMI is a member of the Culver City Chamber of Commerce.

Coincidentally, another Culver City resident was included in the same issue. David Lai, CEO and creative director of Hello Design, located in the Art District of Culver City, had his newly constructed home, located near the corner of LeBourget Avenue and Farragut Drive, featured in the modern home design magazine. Lai’s “L-house” was designed by lee + mundwiler architects, and boasts an array of sustainable landscaping, energy and water features.

Most of the other featured designers and homes in the issue are from around the country and the world. Last weekend Dwell held its annual trade show, Dwell On Design, at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Islas and Lai both spoke as part of a panel discussion regarding eco-friendly design for families with kids.

That is when they found out they were neighbors.
