School Board seeks new superintendent

The school board met in a closed session Tuesday night to discuss the ongoing search process for the next school district superintendent.

A clause in the contract of interim superintendent Patty Jaffe, who took the position in July, apparently stipulates that she is not eligible to take over as superintendent. Board members have met multiple times to discuss a resolution to amend the contract, but nothing has been settled as of yet.

A search committee was established three weeks ago and an undisclosed number of applicants have provided their resumes. An undisclosed amount of interviews have transpired and background checks have been conducted.

Even after the board reaches a decision on a candidate, a contract will have drawn up which the candidate is willing to accept, a process that could require extensive negotiation, before a public announcement will be made.

It remains to be seen what the next step in the process will be.
