It’s been a while since we last visited Culver City Cuisine, the rent-a-kitchen, one-stop location for curbside pickup of a whole range of eateries. All is as it was though; you miss out when it comes to a warm interior, helpful staff and that sort of thing.

But every yin has its yang, and in this case it comes down to the fact that a multitude of incredible eateries are all under one roof. You can walk in, wander up to the easy-peasy monitor, and order a bunch of different meals all at the same time. If you want Mexican food, your partner wants salad, and your child wants a burger–no problem! A world of dining is at your fingertips.

There’s really nothing we can tell you about the exterior and interior decor, or the service. The exterior is really a window in an alley – you show up after ordering online, give your name/order number and collect your food. That’s the same for all of the businesses utilizing Culver City Cuisine. There’s one person taking your name and handing out your food, and that person was friendly enough. Job done!

This writer’s family all ate from Culver City Cuisine on a Saturday afternoon, so that means we were able to try a few more of the restaurants based there. So expect those reviews over the next few weeks. We’re starting with the healthy happenings at THRIVE Protein Bowls.

We opted for the Chicken and Broccoli Protein Bowl: “Packed with 53g of protein, this bowl features lean grilled BBQ chicken thighs, broccoli, corn salad, jammy egg, green onions and sesame seeds. Served with your choice of base and our BBQ sauce.”

For the base, we chose riced cauliflower, in order to keep the carb content low. But we could have had white rice, power grains (a blend of brown rice and quinoa), or mixed greens. We felt that the riced cauliflower at least tricks the mind into thinking your eating a hearty carb, even if you’re not.

There was also the option of a “jammy” egg – two halves of an almost-hardboiled but still nice and sticky egg, that combined beautifully with the other ingredients. The broccoli is perfectly cooked – still firm with a nice crunch. The corn adds some lovely texture, and the egg, sesame seeds and green onion all add important notes.

The chicken is exquisite. Juicy, lean thigh meat with a sweet, charred flavor. Put it all together, and you have a delicious, healthy bowl.
