Police investigating mall shooting

The CCPD have released a statement to report that they are investigating the shooting that occured on the evening of Friday, February 13, resulting in one death.

According to the statement, “at approximately 7:24 p.m., Culver City Police Department officers responded to multiple calls reporting gunshots in the north parking lot of the shopping center located at 6000 Sepulveda Boulevard. Officers quickly arrived and located a Hispanic male adult, approximately 20 to 30 years old, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Officers immediately provided life-saving measures, and the patient was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.”

The statement continues: “Police secured the crime scene area and immediately launched an investigation. Multiple police departments from surrounding areas responded to assist in the search for the two black male adults believed to be involved in the incident. A drone was deployed to assist in the search, and Sepulveda Boulevard between Berryman Avenue and Centinela Avenue was temporarily closed to vehicle traffic. Police activity in the area concluded just before 7:00 am.”

The CCPD said that, according to the preliminary information that they have obtained, “at approximately 7:20 p.m., a shooting occurred in the north parking lot area of the shopping center, where two adult men were struck. A second involved party who suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound was later located at a local hospital. Two firearms have been recovered from the scene. What led up to the shooting is currently under investigation.”
