Culver City Police directs traffic on the intersection of Duquesne and Jefferson at the base of Culver City Park while workers attempt to contain an oil leak on Monday, April 1 at approximately 4 p.m. A large oil truck was brought to the intersection of Jefferson Blvd. and Duquesne Ave., and crews went to work to address the leak before it contaminated the park and city water supplies. The Inglewood Oil Field has some of its wells just behind Culver City Park.

The Inglewood Oil Field is the 18th largest oil field in the state and the second most productive in the Los Angeles Basin. The topic of the oil field was brought up in a community advisory meeting just three days prior, though the focus was on the impact of the field on air quality.
