Rock/blues act Lizzy B & the Hive perform at the Cinema Bar this week, so Lizzy B herself told the News about what they have in store for Culver City…

When did you start playing and performing? When did the band form?

I always wanted to start my own rock and roll band and focus on legendary female rockers – trailblazing women of rock and roll. After retirement, I had the time and energy to find the right combination of talent and musicians. Our band has been together for about two years, but I have been playing with the bass player for decades. Our band is based in Culver City. We are a high energy, four piece, Culver City band, paying tribute to the trailblazing women of Rock & Roll. Lizzy B’s voice mixes the fiery punch of Janis Joplin with the soulful charm of Bonnie Raitt, highlighting iconic classic rock and blues from the 1960s to the 2000s.

Describe your sound…

Classic rock and blues, but with an emphasis on iconic, female rockers like: Janis Joplin, Pat Benatar, Joan Jett, Linda Ronstadt, Annie Lennox, Etta James, Bonnie Raitt, and 4 Non Blondes. Our show is packed with powerhouse vocals, energetic musicianship, and the iconic hits audiences love to dance to and sing.

What are your career highlights so far?

Playing all over the Los Angeles area – had a blast playing at the December 2025 Holiday Market in downtown Culver City – we have played at Killer Shrimp, The Banter Bar, Del Rey Yacht Club, Joxer Daly’s, with more to come starting this May at the Cinema Bar.

What recorded music is available?

We have a new promo on Youtube at Lizzybthehive (recordings are live) and are on Instagram @lizzybhive and we have selected videos of live performances.

Have you performed at Cinema Bar before?

We have not and we are very excited about performing on May 14.

What can we expect from the set this time?

Our music is primarily female rockers (see above) along with other artists such as Alanis Morrisette, Rickie Lee Jones, Amy Winehouse, but we also play Steely Dan, Coldplay, Sons of Leon, Journey, Little Feat. We’ve performed across Los Angeles and consistently receive great feedback for our energy, musicianship, and ability to connect with a diverse audience.

What else do you have coming up?

Banter Bar on June 27, Del Rey Yacht Club on July 19, and The Warehouse on August 15.
