Library to be renovated

Plans to enhance the Julian Dixon Library continue to move forward with the approval of additional funding that will bring the total budget for the library refurbishments to $2.5 million.

The County Board of Supervisors greenlighted the additional appropriations last month and exempted the project from provisions of the California Environmental Quality Act.

Enhancements include installation of custom cabinetry, light fixtures, painting, electrical upgrades, carpet and ceiling system replacement, new library signage, among other improvements. Construction is slated to begin in February and will be completed in December 2015. The library will be closed during construction. Temporary library services will be offered at the Mayme Clayton Library and Museum at 4130 Overland Ave.
