Letter to the Editor

Dear editor,

If ever there was a year to vote for an incumbent, it would be in this upcoming school board election. For the past four years, funding to our schools has been mercilessly slashed. In the 2007-08 school year, the state (which provides the bulk of our schools’ funding) gave our district close to $6,000 per student. This year, that amount will be closer to $5,000. Despite the loss of nearly $1,000 per student over the past four years, our schools’ test scores have actually increased every year. How does that happen? It’s a small miracle that takes a lot of smart, hard work by our teachers, parents, students and, of course, our school board, led by its current president Scott Zeidman.

If you’d like to see the miracle continue, vote for the only incumbent running in this election – Scott Zeidman.
