Letter to the Editor

I came to Culver City in 1953 and never moved. I love Culver City. My family found some very friendly old-time owners of a market on Sepulveda Boulevard. It was small at first and later expanded into a store, for more products and more space.

The owners were the late Albert Vera – many times mayor of Culver City – and his lovely wife, Ursula. They served Culver City residents in a very special way (not too many businesses ran a store like Albert and Ursula).

If you’ve never stopped at this market, you’re missing an old-time treat. They were givers to the needy and other organizations – not to mention catering funerals, weddings and other occasions. They were just doing God’s work. They are both with the Lord, serving in Heaven. They left a son, Albert Jr., who cares and shares, also.

For anyone who has been to the market, I know you will agree. If you’ve never been to Sorrento Italian Market, 5518 S. Sepulveda Blvd., you should take the time to do so. If you’re single or have a family of 20, stop by. You won’t be disappointed.
