The third-place Western Conference Los Angeles Football Club will face the Portland Timbers on Saturday, August 22, at BMO Stadium right next to USC at 7:30 p.m. Although the Timbers are in 10th place in the Western Conference the game is still very important to the Black and Gold because they want to continue to keep pace with the first place Vancouver White Caps who have a record of 11-4-3 and the second-place Houston Dynamo who sit at 11-2-6.
LAFC is 10-4-6 and they continue to play at a high level on offense despite losing to 12th place San Diego last Saturday at home, 1-0. LAFC relies on several players to keep their offense moving in the right direction. Denis Bouanga, David Martinez and Son Heung-Min lead the way in the scoring column. Bouanga has 10 goals, Martinez has six and Heung-Min has four. Also helping to keep the Black and Gold near the top of the conference is Goal Keeper Hugo Lloris, who is having a fantastic year.
