The production is directed by Melodie S. Rivers and produced by Lynn Gutstadt by special arrangement with Dramatic Publishing Company. Featured in the cast in alphabetical order are Rhonda Angela Bruce, Wendy Colón, Ariella Salinas Fiore, Nancy Fleming, Charlotte Gunter, Sydney Holliday, Anne Klafter, Lezlie Moore, Angelique Nicole Porter, Janet Lee Rodriguez, Michele Selin, Dana Weisman, and Amy Witkowski, all of whom represent a real cross-section of modern American women.

The national play reading of Reginald Rose’s drama “12 Angry Men performed by 12 Impassioned Women” over the weekend of April 5-8, 2019 will be presented by 12,000 women across the country (at community colleges, law schools, universities, high schools, community and regional theaters, and community centers) who support the need for continuing towards gender equality and parity by using their voices to tell a story, make others think, and motivate others to action.

This classic play centers on the jury deliberating the fate of a 19-year-old man who has just stood trial for the fatal stabbing of his father. It looks like an open-and-shut case until one of the jurors begins opening the others’ eyes to the facts. As such, the play speaks to the power one person can have when they speak with conviction in our judicial system.

After the 12 ANGRY WOMEN play reading at 2 pm on Saturday, April 6 at the Westchester Playhouse, the League of Women Voters will host voter registration, encouraging cast and audience members to engage in their own communities to increase voter registration and turnout.

There is no admission charge for the play reading; donations gratefully accepted. Reservations are recommended as space is limited, and may be made by calling (310) 645-5156, via email to boxoffice@kentwoodplayers.org or by visiting the Kentwood Players website at www.kentwoodplayers.org where you can also find more information about the 70-years-old and going strong community theater group, its productions and auditions.
