Good food, family fun at the La Ballona Elementary Fall Festival

La Ballona Elementary School is celebrating its 6th Annual Fall Festival on Saturday, Nov. 1 from 11a.m. to 4 p.m. The activities will be located outside on the main playground, at the back entrance of the 10915 Washington Blvd. location. Families, friends and community members are welcome. The event is free.

”Join us and support our school,” welcomes La Ballona Booster Club Co-President, Catalina Pop. “Enjoy delicious food, fun games, entertainment and raffles.” The event also features a Dia De Los Muertos theme. “It’s a one-of-a-kind Fall Festival that celebrates the popular Mexican tradition,” says La Ballona Booster Club Co-President, Joy Kecken.

Don’t miss the discounted pre-sale tickets for games, inflatables, food and activities available from until Oct. 31, before and after school at the front and back entrances, and online at www.laballona. com. The cost is $20 for 25 tickets (to be used for games and food) and $10 wristband for all day use of the inflatables. Tickets can be bought on the day of the Festival for $1 each and $15 for the all-day inflatable pass.

For the kids, the Festival will feature “The Exploratory,” a Culver City innovative learning design lab for children with a maker station on site. There will also be a mini-train ride, two huge climb and slide inflatables, a bounce house for toddlers, food booths, a bake sale, and more than 20 carnival-like games and activities.

Highlights include arts and crafts, big bubble wands, crazy hair, paint-a-pumpkin, face painting, a selfie booth, soccer goalkick, water balloon toss…. and many more. Co-President Catalina Pop encourages you to “be one of the first 25 people dressed in the `Day of the Dead’ theme and you’ll receive a Yogurtland gift certificate.”

In addition, there will be community tables where Culver City residents can meet the Mayor and School Board members. La Ballona principal and teachers will give away gently used books while vendors will promote their goods and share information. Expect to come ready to buy sand art, candles, massages, clothing and more. “This is one of my favorite La Ballona traditions,” shares Principal Jennifer Slabbinck. “It is a great way for families and the community to become more familiar with all of the things that make La Ballona the impressive and special school that it is.”

The Festival will also include all-day entertainment featuring: the Culver City High School Band, Sharon Edith – La Voz de Angel, La Ballona Folklore Dance, and Double Dragon Tae Kwon Do. Fabulous Food: Delicious, authentic pupusas, tacos and pizza will be sold at great prices. We will also feature homemade desserts and beverages for sale. Bake sale items are only $1 each! “We hope to see everyone there,” says Principal Jennifer Slabbinck. “Go Lions!”
