Girls flag football is one of the fastest growing sports in the nation and the Culver City High School girls’ team is trying to keep up with that growth. Last year the team produced the first team in school history and that team ended the season with a record of 5-14. The 2025 team improved to 7-11. Their season ended last Tuesday in a loss to Santa Monica on the road but if you watch this team play you have a feeling the program will only get better. They seem to be learning the game and having fun. That’s a winning combination in sports.

“There is a lot of improvement from last year,” said first year coach, Ramsy Lambert after their Senior Day game a few weeks ago. “The girls have caught into my intensity and fundamentally we have gotten better as football players. To win more games we need to start off faster offensively and score points early. On defense we really fly to the ball.”

They are led by several very good players. Kennedy Naylor, Haily Gonzalez, Nia Jones and Imani Gonzalez are just a few of the players that played well this season. “I just started playing this year,” said senior Imani Gonzalez on Senior Day. “I just wanted to try it. Now I really like it. I like how competitive it is. We started the season really rocky, but we are improving every week.

Another senior is Simone Jones, a second-year player. “I love playing for Culver City. It’s my outlet honestly. Our offense needs to be a little better, but we are having fun. We are more of a physical team, but we do have some speedy people on the team.”

Second year senior player Cada Myles likes the camaraderie on the team. “I like the people on the team. The communication between the coaches and players is great. I like all the memories we have made. It’s fun going on road trips and playing in front of our fun crowds.”

Another senior, Nia Jones, had this to say about playing for the Centaurs for the last two years. “I like the bond I have with my teammates. This can be a good program if we stay focused and do not play around and stay locked in. For the past two years I have had a lot of fun with my teammates and friends. Last year we were the first Culver City flag football team in school history.”
