Moving Planet Day, a global day of action to move beyond fossil fuels and encourage fossil-free transportation, will be celebrated in downtown Culver City on Saturday, Sept. 24 with a colorful Alternative Transportation Parade, followed by a community discussion.
Everyone is welcome to participate in the event. Fancy parade attire and creative decorated vehicles are encouraged. Hosted by Transition Culver City in partnership with local organizations Sustainable Streets, reDiscover Center, Bikerowave and Culver City Bicycle Coalition, the Alternative Transportation Parade meets at 1 p.m. in Town Plaza, in front of the Lion Fountain at the Pacific Stadium Theatres.
There are two parade routes to choose from – one for walkers and one for bicyclists – Culver City’s local routes the new Metro Expo Line station are explored. The event concludes in front of Culver City City Hall with a community brainstorming session at 3 p.m. to discuss personal carbon footprints and offer a children’s craft.
