Evan Marshall has performed at Boulevard Music many times as a member of Miskey Mountain Boys, and now he’s back solo alongside Chris Cerna & Bluegrass Republic. Marshall told the News about what he has in store for Culver City…

What have you been up to since we spoke a couple of years ago?

Two exciting opportunities that have come my way: Being a featured performer at Six Flags Magic Mountain the past three Summers, as part of the bluegrass trio Drivin’ Mama Crazy, and being a featured performer the past two Decembers at Pratt Brothers Christmas, the biggest Christmas celebration in Arizona, as part of the Bluegrass and comedy quintet Billy and the Hillbillies.

Do you have any new recorded music available?

Yes! Symphonic Solo Mandolin is a collection of pieces originally scored for symphony orchestra. All My Strumming is my second album of songs by The Beatles. All my albums are available on your favorite streaming sites.

What do you remember about your last show at Boulevard Music?

I performed with the Miskey Mountain Boys, a six-piece group. The stage was rather crowded, so my brother played the fiddle standing on the stairs leading up to the stage.

Do you have any recorded music available?

Our discography is available on streaming, Amazon, Youtube, all of it. Plus there is a lot of live material on Youtube, from more recent shows back to the early 2000’s.

What can we expect from the set this time?

My musical signature combines up-tempo Bluegrass with the Italian Classical tradition, so you could call it a Spaghetti Western serenade.

What else do you have coming up?

Another Summer of Bluegrass is on the calendar at Six Flags Magic Mountain. Come on up to Roaring Rapids Camp!

Evan Marshall performs with Chris Cerna & Bluegrass Republic at 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 30 at Boulevard Music. More info on the show at boulevardmusic.com.
