DJ Oggy spins his eclectic mix every Saturday in the Velvet Lounge at the Culver Hotel, so he told the News about what he has coming up to thrill Culver City…
When did you start playing and performing?
My first gig was back in 1998 in Tokyo, Japan. My first gig in LA was in 2002 in Santa Monica.
Describe your sound…
I like underground and cool stuff for myself, but as a DJ, I like to make people happy, so I always play everything from disco, funk, jazz, yacht-rock to newer commercial tunes. Sometimes I DJ for kids as well.
What are your career highlights so far?
I have DJed for some of my favorite artists: B-Real, The Pharcyde, Fatman Scoop, Flo Rida, David Guetta, and more. I can’t name all of them — it’s definitely more than these. I was lucky to DJ at many legendary venues like Soho, Century Club, Arena, and the Mayan — and more. Also, private parties in Los Angeles were super dope! Especially during the holidays, we go up to the Hills and have private parties. It gives us that super LA feeling. Big shout out to DJ Icy Ice and DJ Hideo (R.I.P.) for all the support in my early days. It’s always good to feel the LA vibe — those legendary venues definitely had it.

How long have you been performing at the Culver Hotel?
3 years now. Each gig made me feel special, but my vinyl set was very dope. But 2025 NYE was the best night — EVERYBODY there had fun!
What do you have planned for your sets over the holidays?
My mix is always a journey, like our life. I will keep my crowd warm and lovely, but at the same time, I want to give them vibes that bring energy and positive power. DJing is an art form — we adjust tempo, keys, genres, vibes, lyrics, and volume all for your special moments. We love making people happy and feel special!
What else do you have coming up?
I am a Culver City resident and I love my city. I’ve been working on a lot of original songs with my friends who love our Westside life and culture. Please support each other and let’s have a happy time! WEST IS THE BEST SIDE!
