Culver City’s derby girls fight to win

Established in 2006, the Angel City Derby Girls are Los Angeles’ only nationally ranked competitive Women’s Flat Track Roller Derby League. The team calls Culver City’s Veteran’s Hall home.

These women are a group of dedicated athletes who have come together in a grass-roots effort to organize a democratic, member-driven and operated Roller Derby League that abides by the rules and regulations of the only international governing body of Roller Derby—the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA).

The Angel City Derby Girls are kicking off the summer with a killer double header in June.

The first bout features the Rising Stars, the up and coming derby girls who will be taking on Ventura’s West Coast Derby Knockouts. After a successful mini bout in May, this will be the first full length bout for our newly named Rising Stars, and for many girls it will be their first bout ever.

The Rocket Queens, now donning the league wide crimson and gold, are taking the track against the San Diego Derby Dolls Hard Corps. The Hard Corps represent San Diego’s budding talent on both banked and flat tracks.

Don’t miss this night of all female back-to-back roller derby action at the Veterans Memorial Auditorium, 4117 Overland Ave., on June 16. Parking is available at the auditorium.

Tickets can be purchased in advance at www.acdgjune2012.eventbrite.com, or day-of-bout at the door; $14 for General Admission, or $25 for VIP seating.
