When it comes to winter sports Culver City High School and the City of Los Angeles continue to keep sports fans in both cities entertained. Culver City High School winter sports teams include girls’ and boys’ soccer, girls’ and boys’ basketball and girls’ water polo.

Right now, the City of Los Angeles has the Lakers, Clippers, Kings, Rams and Chargers on a professional level and UCLA and USC have women’s volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball, the USC football team will be playing in a bowl game, and the Rose Bowl will host a college playoff game on Jan. 1, 2026.

The Chargers came up with a big win last Monday night when they beat the Philadelphia Eagles 22-19 in overtime at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood. Although the game was filled with eight turnovers, three on one play it was a huge win for the Los Angeles team.  “It comes down to grit and the overall mindset of this team,” said Charger linebacker Daiyan Henley in the locker room after the game. “It’s defense, offense and special teams and when you have a group of guys like this good things happen.

We never turned away from the battle, and we got the job done.” Henley is a former Crenshaw High School and Washington State University star.

USC women’s volleyball player Rylie McGinest spikes the ball  during a home match this month. The Trojans were knocked out of the NCAA playoffs last Friday night by a very good Cal Poly San Luis Obispo team in five exiting sets. They finished the season 25-7.

Lauren Betts grabs the offensive rebound and puts in the basket for two points.

Former Crenshaw High School and Washington State University star Daiyan Henley, who now plays for the Chargers, celebrates the overtime win over the Eagles last Monday night at Sofi Stadium. The 9-4 Chargers travel to Kansas City on Sunday to face the Chiefs at 10 a.m.
