The final eatery on our excursion through the conveniently-housed delights at Culver City Cuisine saw us venture into the world of the decadent dessert. Again, we were left to wonder at the magnificence of these ghost kitchens on Selmaraine Drive.
You might miss out when it comes to a warm interior, helpful staff and that sort of thing. But every yin has its yang, and in this case it comes down to the fact that a multitude of incredible eateries are all under one roof. You can walk in, wander up to the easy-peasy monitor, and order a bunch of different meals all at the same time. If you want Mexican food, your partner wants salad, and your child wants a burger–no problem! A world of dining is at your fingertips.
We’ll be back in the future to try out a bunch more of the business that are a touchscreen away, having fed our family with Lili’s Vegan Kitchen, Bird-N-Bun, and now Cinnamom.
There is a mega-chain, as everyone knows, called Cinnabon. That place isn’t without its soft-baked charms, but it’s become synonymous with mass mall consumerism and mindless gluttony. Cinnamom brings the joy back to the simple cinnamon bun, by making them not-so-simple.
OK, there is a classic buttercream on the menu (“Our hand-rolled Jumbo cinnamon roll topped with our famous classic buttercream frosting. Made with cream cheese, real butter, and rich vanilla. A customer favorite! Made in small batches daily, with only the finest ingredients. Best served warm).
But the Wonka Factory-like delights that are spread across the menu mean that it feels like a waste to go basic. For example, there’s the Apple Pie Cinnamon Roll, or the Caramel Cream, the Death By Chocolate (“Our hand-rolled Jumbo cinnamon roll with decadent chocolate buttercream and topped with sweet chocolate chips. No doubt a favorite for all the chocolate lovers out there!”) and the Peach Cobbler (“You don’t have to be from Georgia to enjoy this Peach Cobbler CinnAmazing roll! You’ll be sure to savor the ooey gooey cinnamon layers with every bite of peaches and our Classic Buttercream: butter, cream cheese, and rich vanilla.)
But we went for the Banana Pudding Cinnamon Roll (“Our hand-rolled Jumbo Cinnamon Roll, topped with Banana Buttercream, crisp vanilla wafer cookies, and a dollop of extra Buttercream. Talk about a classic!”
The warm, gooey roll and tasty cinnamon filling is enhanced no end by the banana cream and wafers. It simultaneously feels different and familiar. Much like everything at Cinnamom, that’s a great combination.
