Choosing the best fall hair color

Even though it still feels like we are a few blocks from hell outside—summertime has officially come and gone.

And now my beautiful ladies, it is time to wash the beach, salt water, chlorine, and over processed highlights out of your hair. The time has come for us to move from those beautiful blonde and lighter tones to our fashionable fall colors.

Most of my clients go through three or four color changes a year. It keeps them fresh and fun, and I get bored doing the same old thing.

Changing to the fall color is always my favorite because it is the one that really switches it up and lets you get daring.

It is the color that has to make you really pop, because you don’t get to wear the bathing suits, lower necklines, and less clothing to show off your best assets.  Your hair becomes your best accessory.

So how do you pick your best color to switch too?  First check your skin tones and then match it to the hues that are best for you.

If your skin is yellow or gold, warmer hair colors are your thing, and if you tend to be blue or pink, then the cool colors are for you.  The best way to quickly figure this out is by looking at the veins in your inner arm, if they are green you are warm, if they are blue you are cool!  Great tip, huh?

Now, the next thing is consult with your stylist on what shades fit your look, personality, and desired level of sex appeal. I recommend going to a stylist to change your color as there are other factors such as hair condition, need for color correction, and other factors that can affect the final result.

Then if you need to retouch it on your own, ask your stylist to tell you the color so you can best match the store bought brands.  Most hairdressers are probably going to frown at me for this, but let’s be real, times are sometimes tough, but we don’t have to look like they are.  If you have to do it yourself make sure you do it right first.

So let’s talk about the hot fall color trends for 2012.  This should help you take a little out of the “what color do I want” guessing game, and give you a guide on what’s wowing the crowds.

Let’s start with our beautiful Blonde’s.  This season blondes are warmer using more buttery, golden, or honey hues to richen them up.

Our hot Red Heads are popping with more cinnamon and copper tones to make heads turn when you walk in the room.

And last but not least, our sexy Brunettes are going lush with chestnuts or chocolate tones to add excitement to their color.

I hope this helps all my beautiful women reading this to get out there, switch it up, and ditch that old color for something new, exciting and fun. Remember my ladies, stay strong, stay sexy, and stay pretty.
