Culver City High School’s varsity football team will travel to Palos Verdes High School on Friday, Oct.3, for a rare 3:30 p.m. daytime game. Both teams are 3-2 and both teams face a tough Bay League schedule after they meet on Friday.
The Centaurs are coming off a tough 57-14 loss to a very good Notre Dame team and the Sea Kings beat Banning 52-0. The big question for Culver City will be if they can stop another high-powered offense? Playing in the daytime may help the Centaurs because they will be able to see plays develop on offense and defense.
The Centaur’s offense is led by quarterback Nicholas Hoang who has passed for 1110 yards and 11 touchdowns, and he has also run for 101 yards and three touchdowns. His favorite receivers so far this season are Langston Wilson, Kristopher McKay and Noah Cunningham. Wilson has caught 19 passes for 267 yards, McVay has 13 receptions for 163 yards and Cunningham has caught 11 passes for 146 yards. Wilson is the Centaurs leading runner with 280 yards.
The Sea Kings offense is led by their quarterback Ryan Rakowski. He has thrown for 938 yards, and he is also their leading runner with 313 yards. Morley Boyd has caught 21 passes for 398 yards and Jalen Flowers has 18 receptions for 265 yards for the Sea Kings.
