Centaurs face tough preseason schedule before league play

Culver City’s High School varsity football team will kick off the 2025 season on the road against one of the best teams in the Los Angeles City Section, King Drew, on Thursday, Aug. 28, at 7 p.m. at Southwest Community College. Last year Drew was 11-4 and they made it all the way to the City’s Division I championship game. The Centaurs were 8-4 last season.

Culver City will stay on the road the following week, Friday, Sept. 5 when they travel to the Harbor District to face Narbonne at 7 p.m.   The Centaurs play their first home game of the 2025 season when they host Salesian at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 12.

Culver City stays at home for the next two weeks when they battle Warren High School on Friday, Sept. 19, and Notre Dame of Sherman Oaks on Friday Sept. 26, at 7 p.m.

The Centaurs schedule continues to showcase teams that are ranked high in the CIF and state polls when they start Bay League play on Oct. 3. On that day they play one of the best teams in the South Bay, Palos Verdes, at 7 p.m. at Palos Verdes. The Centaurs host Mira Costa on Friday, Oct. 10, at 7 p.m. 

They hit the road again when they travel to face another outstanding  South Bay team, Leuzinger. The game will be played on Friday, Oct.17, at 7 p.m.  Culver City will play their last league home game on Friday, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m. against Lawndale They finish the regular season against Inglewood on the road on Friday, Oct. 31, at 7 p.m.  

Senior wide receiver and defensive back Derrick Huezo Jr. will use his varsity football experience to help the Centaurs win games in 2025.
