Centaur swimmers win league after long drought

The last time the Culver City High School swim team won the league title was 10 years ago when Coach Nestor Dordoni’s son, Nestor Jr., was competing for the Centaurs. The undefeated varsity boys swim team earned the crown again in the Ocean League finals at Beverly Hills High School.

“This time it has a special feeling. It feels great and amazing. It was a team victory,” said Dordoni.

Every Centaur swimmer contributed to the championship by swimming best times, avoiding disqualification at the starts, and improving their standings.

The Centaurs won the 400 Free Relay with Christobal Galvan, Sterling Salvaterra, Pedro Dossantos, and Chris Abdelmalak, and came in second in the 200 Free Relay with Dario Fantella joining Galvan, Dossantos, and Abdelmalak. In the 200 Medley Relay they finished fourth with Kendrick Langston, Kyle Rovira, Salvaterra and Fantella.
